Abbott Plant Quality Assurance Director in Zwolle, Netherlands

JOB DESCRIPTION:

In order to support the increasing level and complexity of activities at Abbott Nutrition site in Zwolle, The Netherlands, Abbott is looking for an Plant Quality Assurance Director. The Plant Quality Assurance Director is end responsible for all Quality and Food Safety related topics in the plant and he or she ensures that adequate procedures and controls are in place and communicated to all the employees so quality products are produced at all times.

Major accountabilities:

  • End responsible for the Quality Assurance team in the Plant (approx. 70 FTE), divided in 5 different teams, the Quality Assurance Director ensures that Abbott International Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures are fully implemented and operational for all raw materials, finishing supplies, in-process and finished product.

  • Plans, manages and controls the QA department and ensures all budgets are achieved as per plan. Ensures that the QA department operates efficiently and within agreed budgetary limits.

  • Is part of the Site Leadership team of the plant and works together with this SLT and corporate quality management on improvement projects with significant impact. Identifies areas of risk in the production or QA Operations which may have effect on product quality and/or food safety.

  • The Director will set strategies to optimize organizational efficiency and manage cost through Operational Excellence, implementation of new technologies, knowledge transfer and Business Excellence tools.

  • Acts as the final QA Authority on accept/reject decisions and is the spokesperson to external parties such as regulatory bodies.

  • Sets vision and direction for the plant together with the Site Leadership team, and for the QA department.

Educational background:

A BsC Degree or equivalent in a related discipline; Masters Preferred

Competences:

  • Over five years experience in a Senior manager/ Director position in a Manufacturing or QA department (preferably in food / medical device / pharma).

  • Strong communication and analytical skills, is experienced in working in a multinational environment and is able to provide Senior management with strategical and tactical advice on quality related matters

  • Has organization and cultural sensitivity, and is able to innovate through project management as well as creating a strong Abbott work environment and food safety culture where people can thrive and achieve results.

  • Is a strong stakeholder manager and is able to work with people at different levels of seniority within the organization

  • Is fluent English, Dutch is preferred
