Our location in Lake Bluff, IL currently has an opportunity for a Senior R&D Scientist, Bioconjugation. We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative research scientist in the field of bioconjugation to support diagnostic assay development. The primary focus of the position is to develop bioconjugation processes from early research to production scale and facilitate process transfer to manufacturing. This Sr Scientist will also conduct advanced research related to bioconjugation and have the ability to lead projects, accurately communicate scientific observations, and recommend directions for future experiments in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Independently design and execute experiments to develop and characterize bioconjugation processes in support of diagnostic assay research and development.

  • Apply advanced multi-disciplinary analytical techniques for the characterization of proteins and bioconjugates.

  • Perform scale-up of processes to production scale and facilitate process transfer to site of manufacture, including training of Operations personnel.

  • Maintain documentation of experimental procedures and results in a laboratory notebook per established guidelines.

  • Train lower-level scientists and work as part of a collaborative team to meet project milestones.

  • Understanding of analytical methodologies and data interpretation is essential (SEC-HPLC, mass spectrometry, light scattering, etc.). Experience with biophysical characterization techniques for evaluation of protein stability and/or protein-protein interactions is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of protein bioconjugation and purification methodologies (e.g., SEC, ion-exchange, affinity chromatography) using automated FPLC systems (AKTA) and/or HPLC.

  • Ability to work independently but also within a collaborative team environment and have flexibility to work on changing priorities.
