Our location in Lake Bluff, IL currently has an opportunity for a Senior Scientist, Protein Engineering. We are seeking a skilled molecular biologist to perform independent antibody and antigen engineering projects and provide technical support for immunoassay and clinical chemistry assay teams. The candidate must possess strong molecular biology, protein biochemistry and mammalian cell line development background as well as be familiar with current technologies and conduct effective literature searches to stay current with developments in the field. This team member will conduct advanced research on antibody and antigen engineering, expression, purification, characterization and cell line development.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Conceive, plan, design and conduct advanced independent antibody and antigen engineering research.
Design experiments, author protocols, and introduce new technologies. Investigate and develop new procedures.
Stay up-to-date on antibody engineering and stable cell line engineering technologies.
Provide technical direction and feedback to others. Interact with other groups and share information; participate in team meetings.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Conduct experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarize data, interpret, results and draw conclusions. Evaluate data using analytical methodologies to achieve results. Recommend options for future experiments. Present scientific observations to others.
Expertise and Problem Solving: Identify technical alternatives. Utilize multiple analytical instruments. Anticipate, recognize and resolve technical problems.
Project Planning: Participate and contribute in project planning, update and process improvements and will be responsible for project completion. Implement project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility and regulatory requirements.
Scientific Leadership: Submit ideas for inventions; publishes; innovates through patent filings and/or scientific publications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Ph.D. (preferably in molecular biology or Biochemistry) with 2 years research or industrial experience
Or M.S. equivalency* with sufficient research experience to demonstrate. *Equivalency defined as ability to hypothesize, design own experiments, draw conclusions and provide direction degree.
Strong molecular biology, protein biochemistry and mammalian cell line development background
Experience with phage display or related display technologies is a plus.
Strong written and oral communication skills
