This role is responsible for leading the US Financial Reporting & Accounting organization. This includes divisional financial reporting, Procure to Pay (PTP), Record to Report (RTR), and Order to Cash (OTC) functions. The role provides oversight and directs operations of the US Shared Services hub and the Abbott retained teams supporting these processes. This position directs the monthly and quarterly financial closing processes and establishes and maintains US financial compliance with the Abbott Corporate Finance Manual (CFM).
- Lead the US retained and outsourced teams responsible for each of the process areas and division consolidation.
Working with the Governance Organization, approves work requests and service delivery changes within the process areas.
Analyzing and reporting on performance reports provided from the governance organization to ensure successful attainment of general, key and critical service levels and important measurements to attain business goals.
Drives adequate and timely root cause analysis to understand problem drivers and implementation of necessary corrections and/or changes.
Works with governance team directly to engage with service providers to define, deliver and analyze customer satisfaction surveys.
Overseeing all process-based operational issue escalations and resolution with outsourced operations.
- Oversee compliance with Corporate Finance Manual (CFM) and Internal Controls:
Provide support and guidance for compliance with CFM, including acting as a liaison between Abbott Corporate and division organizations.
Ensure global compliance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles in US accounting and financial reporting.
Work with Corporate as necessary to propose new policies, changes to existing policies, and interpret policies as they relate to the division.
Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are met and maintained for the Division.
Review, understand and implement of new accounting pronouncements.
Perform accounting research and provide guidance to business as needed.
Review, revise and/or implement internal controls.
Streamline processes to improve efficiency and achieve cost savings initiatives.
Responsible for supervising, developing and coaching a staff of 7 finance professionals. Lead the development of finance employees by recruiting highly qualified personnel to the organization, retaining and developing both direct and indirect reports by providing challenging opportunities and advancing personnel as appropriate.
BS/BA degree in Finance and/or Accounting. An MBA, CPA and/or CMA strongly preferred due to the technical nature of the position.
At least 15 years of total financial/accounting experience, including 6-8 years of supervisory/ management experience. Big 4 and/or auditing experience preferred.
A combination of Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis experience required. Shared services experience strongly preferred. Previously having been in a reporting relationship with an operating manager as a direct boss is desired.
Strong leadership skills, ability to lead large teams and drive for results under tight deadlines.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the operational impact of financial decisions.
Solid problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Solid knowledge of technical accounting/US GAAP and financial consolidation processes.
