Core Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Designs and conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets, results and draws conclusions. Evaluates data using analytical methodologies to achieve results. Recommends options for future experiments. Presents scientific observations to others. Trains lower-level scientists. Expertise and Problem Solving: Identifies technical alternatives. Utilizes multiple analytical instruments. Anticipates, recognizes and resolves technical problems. Project Planning: Participates in project planning, updates and process improvements. Implements project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility and regulatory requirements. Translates top-level goals to specific project level goals for individual team member. Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects or activities. Plans resource allocation and distribution. Scientific Leadership: Submits ideas for inventions; publishes; innovates through patent filings and/or scientific publications. Perform FTO's (Freedom to Operate). Economic Profitability: Provide direction to project team to meet economic profitability (EP) profile for the project (product cost analysis). Lab Safety: Participates in lab safety. Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.

Position Accountability / Scope:

Across functional areas/programs within division. Contributes to project plan. Responsible for project completion.

Minimum Education:

Ph.D. plus 2 years of research or industrial experience or B.S./M.S. with equivalency*. *Equivalency to Ph.D. defines as ability to hypothesize, design own experiments, draw conclusions and provide direction.

Minimum Experience / Training:

Required Indicate the minimum experience level and/or training required to perform this job. Basic Computer Skills. Advanced Knowledge of multiple analytical instruments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD plus 2 years experience in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bioengineering, and/or Biological Sciences; or BS/MS with equivalent work experience; proven track record of research success.

  • Knowledge of statistical data analysis and DOE methodology is a plus.

  • Additional experience may include knowledge of techniques used to determine protein-protein interactions and a working knowledge of protein expression

  • Candidates should work well in a team environment and have flexibility to work on changing priorities.
