Position Summary

The Associate Product Manager, Social & Digital Media is a critical role within Abbott Diabetes Care’s Global Strategic Marketing team. The Associate Product Manager, Social & Digital Media will be commercially focused and represent both business and customer needs globally, to identify opportunities to improve and enhance the effectiveness of social and digital marketing platforms, customer acquisition and retention, and advertising. The Associate Product Manager, Social & Digital Media will serve as the primary community manager for FreeStyle global social media channels, as an administrator for global websites and downloadable digital assets. They will create, drive, and communicate social media and digital marketing best practices for Abbott Diabetes Care, and focus on helping country affiliates deliver and maintain an excellent customer experience across social media channels and websites. They will facilitate workshops (in person and via WebEx) to keep the marketers globally informed and engaged on the tools available and how to utilize them. The Associate Product Manager, Social & Digital Media will be an expert in key disciplines such as earned and paid media, social customer service, content creation, community development, website usability and accessibility (UX/CX), digital marketing, SEO, and analytics.

Main Responsibilities

Manages multiple marketing responsibilities and business processes. Social & Digital Media marketing expert for Global Strategic Marketing and consultant for affiliate countries. Reviews country project/initiative objectives as outlined in thier socila media business case to be sure there is alignment to product positioning and marketing strategies. Manages global, divisional social media presence and community in coordination with external agency. Ensures business monitoring of social channel and website performance, key service level agreements, and key performance indicators. Provides administrative support for global websites and assets. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels within internal departments and external agencies, and with the ability to explain complex elements in a simple way.


Assist in development of presentations to senior management. Help develop and execute marketing tactics/programs to support the annual marketing plans. Manage a marketing budget for specific programs/tactics (plan a budget, track expenses). Manage relationships with third-party business partners. Participate in marketing meetings, training, industry conferences, and tradeshows.


Bachelors Degree required. MBA preferred or at least three years previous marketing/sales experience. Strong presentation and communication skills. Critical thinking and analysis of market conditions and opportunities

The ideal candidate will have digital marketing experience (agency or brand) directly executing social media and digital marketing projects. Product management or medical device/healthcare marketing experience a plus.

  • Strong interest and enthusiasm for marketing and social and digital media

  • Technical aptitude and experience with social media platforms and website content management systems (CMS). Experience with AEM a plus.

  • Innovative and able to think open and broadly

  • Proactive and resourceful with a “can do” attitude.

  • Creativity, copy writing skills a plus

  • Ability to learn a new subject quickly

  • Strong analytical skills able to draw conclusions from data, management information and trends. Experience with GA360 and Adobe Analytics a plus.

  • Highly organized, focused and committed to achieving goals

  • Sound time management skills, ensuring that work is produced to agreed deadlines and high standard

Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines on several initiatives simultaneously
