The New Analyte Ventures Director, Commercial Operations will work from our Alameda, CA headquarters . This position is part of the New Analyte Ventures (NAV) group, an internal start-up venture within Abbott Diabetes Care, that focuses on identification, development and commercialization of new products utilizing Abbott’s personal use, wearable, continuous analyte monitoring system technology. This innovative technology is based on FreeStyle Libre, the world’s leading sensor-based glucose monitoring platform.

The purpose of this role is to create the NAV commercial processes to ensure efficient, timely and smooth product/revenue flow with b2b customers, direct to consumers and with other Abbott divisions. The role will also develop, implement and own the global direct to consumer online store with full responsibility for front and back office, including order processing, product flow, infrastructure set-up and management of customer data base for promotional purposes, as well as global customer service for NAV, including customer inquiries, complaint handling, product replacement and contracting with service providers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop and maintain commercial processes to ensure efficient, timely and smooth product flow with b2b customers, direct to consumers and with other Abbott divisions

  • Own, lead and implement the launch of the global direct to consumer online store with full responsibility for front and back office, including order processing, product flow, financial accounting and infrastructure set-up and management of customer data base for promotional purposes

  • Own and develop global customer service, including customer inquiries, complaint handling, product replacement, as well as contracting with service providers, budget ownership and KPI reporting

  • Own and manage the global NAV product portfolio, including volume forecasting, SKU maintenance, and product lifecycle management

  • Coordinate with finance, supply chain, marketing, quality, and regulatory functions across Abbott and its business partners

  • Establish mechanisms and processes to capture, analyze and report market-level data to better understand business performance

  • Establish and maintain excellent relations with key stakeholders in local and international functions

  • Operate as an expert partner for the leadership team to support business objectives and strategy realization

  • Plan, manage and execute the commercial operations budget, be responsible for monthly and quarterly accuracy of budget execution, actively look for, propose and execute savings to improve division margin and investment efficiency

  • Measure, monitor, report and proactively improve KPIs of the areas in responsibility

  • Lead and develop x-functional projects out of direct responsibility scope, driven by organization needs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business or related field.

  • Previous senior management level experience and interface with DVP's and General Managers.

  • 5 years of front line sales management experience.

  • Verbal and written communication skills, strategy planning and execution skills.

  • Motivational and leadership skills.

  • High analytical skills, sound understanding of financial business drivers.

  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills as well as teamwork competencies

Preferred

  • The ideal/preferred candidate will have 8-12 years on-the job, including hands-on DTC e-commerce

  • Advanced Degree preferred

  • Strong preference for hands-on, proven experience in operations management of online stores

  • Project management experience and strong track record in set-up and management of complex infrastructural changes or launches

  • Deep knowledge of financial and business process management

  • Negotiation skills combined with an ability to influence at all levels and build constructive relationships with key stakeholders in matrix organizations

  • Ability to work in multitasking environment, structure and prioritize tasks

  • Teamwork and leadership skills

  • Presentation, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver key messages with impact

  • CPG and med device experience strongly preferred

  • Consulting experience a plus, but must have hand-on business experience

  • Cross-regional experience a plus (e.g. US and EU/APAC)
