Abbott Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) is looking for

Digital Innovation Manager

In this role you develop new digital marketing products, services or processes in collaboration with other EPD departments (e.g. R&D, IT, Marketing, Sales, etc.) ensuring our company is ahead of the competition by providing innovative value propositions for the customers, creating new business revenue models.

Development and building strong partnership with an ecosystem of innovative partners, including top digital lead companies as well as startups and venture capitals. Ensure the development and the drive of pilot initiatives with full buy in and collaboration of the affiliates, making them globally scale-able supported by a structured and smooth transition from pilot to full global commercial roll out.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop marketing innovation pipeline and champion the commercial business case development for the entire digital pipeline supported by other EPD departments (e.g. R&D, IT, Marketing, Sales, etc.)

  • Manage and evaluate business case development for the innovation pipeline assisting strategic decision-making and Go-to-Market process

  • Design, research, develop, analyze and suggest new marketing concepts as well as strategies

  • Design, model and test innovative digital enabled business models, products and services. Ensure quick testing and validation with a structured approach, establishing an agile test-and-learn culture

  • Collaborate and co-lead initiatives with internal and external innovation development groups from insights to execution

  • Lead and direct different cross-functional teams, programs and projects of varied sizes and types concurrently, developing a high-performance atmosphere

  • Identify and qualify agile digital marketing partners, collaborating with top digital players, startups and venture capitalists. Evaluate and drive potential new partnerships for new business opportunities

  • Coordinate cross-functional activities post business case approval of digital assets, represent customers internally and collaborate with leaders in varied areas on allocation across projects and resource planning

  • Contribute and influence strategic direction for senior leadership using informal and formal communication

  • Manage and meet customer expectations and ensure delivery fulfill expectations.

  • Continuous data analysis and evaluation of the market conditions and competitor data

  • Continuous review new marketing technologies and keep the company at the forefront of developments in digital marketing.

  • Ensure affiliate marketing innovation plans are within the strategy and portfolio imperatives and are reviewed and challenged and remedied as needed

  • Build global and affiliate priorities to ensure proper digital marketing innovation portfolio management

  • Create global launch and continuous improvement plans and closely track the implementation at the affiliate level

Position Accountability/Scope:

  • Drive development of new digital marketing initiatives and business models and potentially new revenue growth globally, by supporting and directing partners and key affiliates, ensure we are recognized as digital leader and being ahead of the market and competitors. This must be done in close collaboration with other EPD departments involved on digital innovation (e.g. R&D, IT, Marketing, Sales, etc).

  • Shape a dynamic working environment in which all stakeholders share common objectives and are motivated to excel in execution

  • Have deep understanding of the global digital marketing landscape and also the local market reality/needs, challenge and support priority affiliates on their local strategy, tactics and implementation plans by spending at least 50% of the time in the markets

  • Be a catalyst for product marketing innovation and pipeline development

  • Review and validate all commercial input and prepare business cases for the Innovation Board

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the stakeholder base

Experience/Training Required:

  • Min. 6-8 years of innovation including 3 years with experience with digital / eCommerce products and/or services, with track record of successful launches

  • Working experience in or with international / Head Quarter positions

  • Experience within the Pharmaceutical industry is a plus but not a must have

  • Experience in services /travel industry (e.g., Expedia), FMCG, Entertainment also very welcome

  • Proven track record in building brands at the global or regional level

  • Innovative mindset with a true ability to challenge the status quo

  • Results oriented mindset with strong problem solving abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Digital channels, services and technologies

  • Change Management and Project Management skills

  • Knowledge of Basic Finance, Budgeting and reporting

  • Market knowledge and also Promotion marketing and Strategy development

  • Pharmaceutical industry and business knowledge (as a plus)


  • English, any other language would be an asset
