Abbott Associate Contracts & Key Account Manager - West Midlands in Birmingham, United Kingdom

Due to growth, we are recruiting for an Associate Contracts and Key Account Manager to be remotely based in the West Midlands area.

The position is a national role with regional assignment..


Maintain, and ensure growth in allocated Abbott Contracts. To implement new contract accounts - thereby achieving sales targets and objectives in line with national strategies and goals.


  • In conjunction with the Contract Manager (CM) to be responsible for developing strategy, objectives and tactics for Abbott accounts. Responsible for creation, implementation and progress tracking of account and locality plan objectives for Abbott contracts.

  • Overall responsibility for organisation of contract review meetings, this will include – agendas, minutes and actions. As well as undertaking Value presentations to demonstrate why the account partners ANI as appropriate. Assistance will be given by the CM.

  • Responsible for communication of contract information within the local team and head office team. Point of contact for Abbott accounts with HO contract manager.

  • Responsible for the monitoring and audit of Abbott contracts to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements. Trouble shoot issues within Abbott accounts as required.

  • In conjunction with the Contract Manager and Contracts Admin team, coordinate resource allocation for head office (HO) visits and briefing presenters within HO for the event.

  • Responsible for implementing new contracts in conjunction with the Contract Manager, National Nurse Manager, eServices Manager and Contract Director.


  • Delivering contract sales goals.

  • Developing profitable relationships with key decision makers across the Health Economy

  • Locality Planning in conjunction with the Contracts Manager, Regional Business Manager and Regional Nurse manager.

  • Achieving objective deadlines.

  • Shaping and implementing Abbott Account plans.



Degree level or equivalent, preferably in a life science

Knowledge and experience:

  • Good working knowledge of NHS environment and NHS initiatives.

  • Experience as key account/contracts manager in one or more of the following sectors: Nutritionals, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, devices, vaccines, dialysis

  • Familiar with tender processes

  • Experience of relevant geographical area/hospital/trusts


  • Proven selling skills and negotiation skills including a successful sales record

  • Good team worker, able to work with multifunctional teams

  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good at building and maintaining customer relationships

  • Business planning and implementation skills
