Primary Function/ Primary Goals/ Objectives:
Develop nutritional products for commercial launch in global markets by creating new formulations which will deliver improvements to product claims, comply with regulatory requirements and/or reduce product cost.
Lead the technical development of products of low complexity and/or support the technical development of products of medium to high complexity.
Help plan and execute experimental designs of low to medium complexity to optimize the nutrient, microbiological, organoleptic and physical quality of new and/or improved products while adhering to relevant internal and external constraints. Share observations and record run summaries of pilot experiments.
Interpret test results and suggest conclusions and action plans. Communicate through verbal updates and written reports.
Participate on and possibly present to cross-functional business teams including Marketing, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Regulatory and Legal, as appropriate.
MS in Food Science or related scientific field with 0-3 years relevant experience, typically.
BS in Food Science or related scientific field with 2-7 years relevant experience, typically.
Anticipate by working with team and manager to proactively identify project issues and suggest alternative approaches.
Build by growing knowledge and skills to become proficient in performing the various activities required to support project goals; fully understand New Product Development Process.
Deliver new and improved products with quality, accuracy and expediency by supporting the execution of development plans, product recommendations and required documents; identifying possible risks.
Tactfully seek to understand and challenge why, and not just how, work is conducted. Suggest and evaluate alternative approaches. Proactively assimilate new processes and ways of working into project work.
