The position will focus on the research and development of innovative nutritional product formulations. This will be done as part of a collaborative development team, requiring close interaction with Marketing, Nutrition Science, Discovery, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Process Innovation, Analytical and Manufacturing groups.
Products will include both liquid and powdered nutritional formulas, with a focus on formulas designed for preterm and term infants as well as up age children.
Innovation efforts will typically involve the sourcing and evaluation of new ingredients; optimization of the physical, nutrient, and sensory properties of products, and manufacturing prototypes to support needed clinical trials.
Develop nutritional products for commercial launch in global markets by creating new formulations which will deliver improvements to product claims, comply with regulatory requirements and/or reduce product cost.Major Responsibilities:
The individual will have primary responsibility for executing studies, data evaluation and report writing in support of regulatory filings and product commercialization. As a primary contributor to the technical team, the candidate will share responsibility for achieving project goals with optimum quality and margin considerations
Interpret test results and suggest conclusions and action plans. Communicate through verbal updates and written reportsSkills/Experience Requirements
Outstanding background in science and/or engineering. Emphasis in food science, dairy chemistry / dairy microbiology, emulsion stability, ingredients interactions, novel ingredients delivery systems, or creating stable complex nutritional systems is desired.
Knowledge of formulation, processing and packaging aspects pertaining to liquid and powdered nutritional products, as well as their nutritional, physical, and sensory stability.
Beyond scientific skills, strong math, writing and verbal communication skills are required.
Proactive with executing development steps and anticipating barriers to success.
Experience with design of experiments, planning development strategies and interacting with suppliers is preferred.
