Primary Function

Responsible for managing medium to large-scale projects/studies from beginning to end.

Act as point of contact for project reporting and updates.

Provide back-up for contract negotiation and implementation.

Manage cost, timeline, and resource estimates throughout the life of the study.

Create and understand financial reports and variances.

Major Responsibilities:

Prepare and implement study estimates during study start-up to completion: OOP cost, resources, and timeline.

Responsible for execution of scope change management and project close-out processes.

Facilitate R&D resource estimates and track overall project budget and metrics.

Facilitate project team members through the project management process; ensure team is working within study scope.

Document project plan in Project Management (PM) software and maintain project documentation.

Manage study project timeline and OOPS costs, and follow-up with project team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Proactively identify and manage project opportunities/issues/risks.

Collaborate with representatives from appropriate functional areas to meet project objectives.

Gather data from a variety of sources and prepares routine and ad hoc reports in support of resource management, tracking, and forecasting.

Support clinical teams by providing metrics and guidance with respect to operational aspects of clinical trial timelines, resources, and budgets.

Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Influence/Leadership

Understand business environment and relates knowledge of internal and external activities to trends.

Interface with a variety of management levels on significant matters.

Participate in the development of others by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance.

May lead a cross-functional project team.

Act as a mentor to less experienced staff.

Exercise judgment independently.

Planning/Organization

Includes the assurance of contract and project quality to meet or exceed divisional goals.

Plan and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity.

Initiate or maintain schedule for projects and project milestones.

Establish priorities of individual or project assignments.

Decision Making/Impact

Select methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.

Typically has data to influence key decisions to key stakeholders; must present and influence.

Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious delays and considerable expenditure of resources.

Education:

BA/BS: Science, Business, or Financial Degree.

Paralegal certification desirable. PMP certification desired

2-3 years of experience in finance/contracts /project management preferred

5-7 years in Industry

Background/Skills/Knowledge

Clinical research, ICH-GCP, legal terminology, project management
