Night Shift 6 pm-6:30 am

Primary Function

Perform the general activities pertinent to the department by having a working knowledge of equipment and procedures pertaining to the function assigned. Individuals will be expected to participate in a limited rotation and fill in for another operator’s position in his or her absence. The Powder Products Operation I is responsible for the operation and daily maintenance of packaging equipment, line support for the filling areas, line changeover, tote room operations, in-process testing, documentation, completing work orders, MITS and wash jobs.

Main Responsibilities

Line changeovers - Disassemble, wash, and reassemble Colby filler and gassing system, conversion of the #2-line labeler, over capper, check weight, and can tray wrap conveying equipment, assist disassembly and reassembly of Mateer-Burt filler, assist conversion of #1 line between litho and standard cans, assist in changeover of pouch machine and pouch car toner, assist in disassembly and assembly of line #3.

Labelers/Over cappers - Ensure proper operation of labelers and over cappers, ensure correct labels and over caps for product being filled are used, ensure daily maintenance of labeler and over capper, changeover of equipment and track work for various can sizes, routine PM’s for equipment, pull samples as required.

Hand and Auto Packers/Palletizer Tray/Shrink wrapper.

Auto or hand case packing/tray wrapping and pallet stacking of all products, ensure proper operation of equipment, changeover of equipment for various can sizes, routine PM’s on equipment, perform outgoing inspection per work order requirement, stretch wrap finished pallets and supply lid feed system.

Accountability / Scope / Budget

Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the plant operations by producing high quality products in a timely manner for various filling/packaging lines.

The department will accomplish this objective in accordance with GMP, SMP and safety requirements with minimum product/ingredient loss through efficient use and maximum utilization of manpower assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience

High School Diploma/GED Prior to this job - Powder Products Operator Trainee Determination of supplies needed to keep lines functioning; analysis of potential quality concerns, such as incorrect supplies, can oxygen problems, or improper documentation; simple equipment problems, squeaky bearings bad track or belting; Videojet programming problems. The operator must be capable of handling minor problems in an orderly fashion and exhibit the common sense to request help from either the Operator I, Crew leader or supervision when deemed necessary. The operator will on many occasions be working in an area isolated from the major production floor and must be able to pace their own job progress without close supervision.
