Value Stream Manager – Supply Chain

Position Objectives:

The Value Stream Manager – Supply Chain position is responsible for the delivery performance within AMD Operations; directly impacting the Abbott Molecular Division's ability to assure a cost effective; marketable; and manufacturable product to our customers and AMD affiliates. The candidate is responsible for coordinating and aligning various internal teams that are made up of representatives from Supply Chain, Planning and Logistics, Technical Services; Purchasing; Manufacturing; Engineering; and Quality Assurance. The position will require significant interaction with all areas of the Value Stream. End to end supply chain oversight to assure supply continuity to distribution centers and customers


Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

  • The Value Stream Manager owns the delivery performance of their assigned product(s).

Responsible for prioritization;

  • problem solving;

  • resource management;

  • communication and

  • risk management to meet this objective.

  • Tailor and apply broad-based skill set to facilitate efficient management of team activities and communication.

  • Develop; track; and communicate progress against deliverables and resource constraints.

  • Drive the coordination between functional teams.

  • Consistently support collaborative efforts and promote a cooperative team environment at all levels.

  • Support/participate in efforts to continuously improve the Site Value Stream

  • Develop innovative approaches to program management and have very keen foresight to anticipate activities and events that may cause delay and develop and implement a plan to prevent the delay from occurring.

  • This position should require very little supervision; as the incumbent should be highly self-sufficient

Position Accountabilities:

The incumbent will be totally responsible and accountable for the successful delivery performance and should be capable of the following:

  • Be self-directed to achieve the site objectives.

  • Have a high degree of freedom to achieve these objectives.

The incumbent’s judgment; technical skills; reasoning and experience will have a significant impact on Abbott’s profitability.

  • Needs to maintain constant communication/interaction with Manufacturing; Quality; Supply Chain; and Technical managers to ensure quick responses and satisfactory outcomes.

  • Will have strong leadership and mentoring skills to manage and develop site personnel.


Bachelor’s degree; preferably in science or technical related field. Advanced degree preferred.

A minimum of 7 years of experience in areas such as: manufacturing, engineering, technical, quality, project management, and R&D.

The individual needs a broad business perspective, knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes. International and/or domestic regulatory/QA knowledge is desirable.

Strong project experience and an ability to influence others are essential

Strong strategy development and planning skills coupled with necessary knowledge of diagnostics technical, manufacturing and supply activities.

  • Issue identification and strong problem analysis and solution development skills.

  • Exceptional workload management and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated team player and ability to work in a globally oriented work environment.

  • Strong knowledge of business financial systems and tools.

  • The incumbent will work with and influence, a wide variety and number of highly skilled and experienced managers across the value stream.
