The Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) Business Manager in EMEA leads Reimbursement & Health Economics activities in EMEA in support of the Vascular division and is the main contact for the regional Business Leadership in matters of HE&R.

The HE&R Business Manager will align with the regional and local Business Leaders to identify priority objectives for the Vascular division in supporting the business at customer level pursuing and, where applicable, improving reimbursement and.

In pursuing these objectives, the HE&R Business Manager will work closely with the global HE&R matrix, in particular the respective Global Therapy Leader and with in-country HE&R functions.

This position will report to the Senior Director Global Field Health Economics and Reimbursement.


  • The Manager will align closely with the regional and country Business Leaders to identify HE&R priority objectives in support of customers or in pursuit of reimbursement.

  • He/she will ensure that short, medium and long-term business objectives and priorities are well-known to the HE&R team and ensure alignment.

  • Where needed, the Manager will work closely with country-based HE&R staff in developing the ABT reimbursement strategy at country level. Together with the Sr Director Health Economics & Reimbursement OUS, he/she will develop action plans and oversee and support execution at country level.

  • In close collaboration with the Senior Director, Global Field Health Economics and Reimbursement he/she will support the sales organization and selected customers with:

  • HE&R expertise and tools and HE&R training and education to enable achievement of market share and revenue growth

  • Development of risk sharing and capitation programs, where appropriate

  • Counsel on innovative approaches to deal with purchasing and hospital groups in order to move to value based procurement

  • Cross-functional meetings and support of Global Team meetings and other events in support of market access for the assigned division’s technologies.

  • The Manager will look for synergies between countries in pursuing reimbursement and customer support objectives and will leverage the global HE&R team in meeting these objectives, in particular the Global Therapy Leaders, the OUS HE&R Leadership and team and other functions/disciplines.

  • He/she will work with other functions within the company, such as Clinical, Marketing, and Government Affairs. In particular, the Manager will:

  • Articulate country-specific needs with regard to evidence development to clinical and global Therapy Leaders.

  • Help develop and validate clinical and economic claims and value messaging in close alignment with Global Therapy Leaders and HEOR

  • Add value to marketing and positioning campaigns and messaging

  • Contribute to a strong brand recognition of HE&R amongst the internal customers at EMEA level.

  • In support of above mentioned objectives, the HE&R Business Manager EMEA will establish:

  • An effective operating model including collaboration, communication structures and processes with all stakeholders and in particular business leaders and other internal customers.

  • Impactful relations with third parties at regional and country level, such as strategy and management consultants, KOL’s, scientific organizations and trade associations.

  • Partnerships with purchasers and payers to develop risk sharing models and bundle payments

  • Working relationships with hospital administration to understand their needs in term of coding and funding and develop services.

  • The Manager will manage his/her own activity budget at EMEA level.

  • He/she will perform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.


  • University degree in Medicine, Economics, Engineering or Social Sciences and experience in medical device related HE&R.

  • Strong business acumen to connect to local/regional business leaders and develop HE&R solutions to support the business.

  • Both strategic thinking and pro-active, tactical execution and drive for results are critical

  • Excellent communication skills are a must. This position requires the ability to "translate" local and international level policy developments into possible business impact for the company and liaise effectively with a diverse internal and external target audience.

  • The HE&R Business Manager EMEA is a team-player and able to handle cultural and personal differences in his/her team and to provide leadership operate in a global matrix organization.

  • Strong project management skills are needed, along with flexibility, self-motivation and preparedness to continuous improvement.

  • The function requires regular contacts with multiple stakeholders: openness to new contacts, engagement of all stakeholders, diplomacy and tact are essential to succeed.

  • Excellent English skills are requested, additional languages are an asset.
