Abbott Operations Manager in Donegal Town, Ireland
The Operations Manager is part of the senior management team and has overall ownership for the operations aspect of the TPM business. Primary responsibility is to establish capacity, capabilities, and systems with TPMs to execute reliable supply to meet commercial affiliates sales requirements.
Objectives include establishment and maintenance of business relationships with TPMs and Abbott support groups, establishing contracts and pricing, identifying and establishing systems for effective execution of Manufacturing, QA, New Product Introduction, and Logistics to secure reliable manufacture and delivery of products.
The Operations Manager will direct a staff and be the principle contact point accountable for managing the relationships, day-to-day execution, continuous improvement, and implementation of strategy with key Third Party Manufacturers (TPMs). This will include management of any assigned TPMs on a global basis, as needed, directly and through direct reports based both on and off-site.
The Operations Manager will also be responsible for identifying, assessing, and qualifying operations of any new TPMs required to progress the business
A vital function of this position is working to secure both the capacity and capabilities needed to support the growth of the business. As a strategically important part of Abbott's future, building capacity and capability through contract manufacturers is a key value added responsibility. This will be done through close alignment with strategic sourcing and contingency planning.
- Manage the business relationship with TPMs including contracts, price negotiations, supply capacities, cost savings, and systems improvements.Work with other members of the TPM senior management team to determine and implement direction of the business unit.Work with QA Manager to drive creation and ownership of QA systems and ensure QA and regulatory compliance at all levels.Manage relationships and alignment with Abbott support groups such as ALOG, Regulatory, Commercial Liaisons, and Area Commercial management.Work closely with strategic sourcing to ensure support of the strategic LRP as well as development of contingency plansManage a staff to implement the following: (i) locate, qualify, start-up, and manage the day-to-day operations with nutritional TPMs, (ii) manage the product resourcing as well as development and start-up of new products and manufacturing capabilities at TPMs through liaison with business development, commercial, R&D, regulatory, and strategic sourcing, (iii) establish QA and logistics systems to assure quality and supply reliability, (iv) provide responsive solutions to affiliate needs for supply of existing products and introduction of new products.
- Bachelor Degree in Science, Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of experience in some or all or the following disciplines: manufacturing, engineering, plant systems, QA, product development, R&D, project management, scheduling, logistics.
