We invest in our people’s ongoing learning and professional development.We are looking for an Accountant to join our team in Finance Shared Services Centre.The Accountant is responsible for providing business unit general accounting and internal control support, assisting in the completion of month end close, and ensuring that the general ledger account balances and trial balances are accurate and reflecting the correct amounts. Key characteristics include customer service focused, problem solving /resolution and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver guidance, insight, and technical expertise as it relates to accounting – in particular Intercompany Accounting and Inventory experience

  • Support the completion of the month end close process

  • The Accountant will support divisions, legal entities and countries as assigned, to, over time, gain a deep understanding of the various Abbott divisions, and the unique attributes of the legal entity, regulatory, and in-country requirements associated with the region. Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the delivery of effective, efficient finance processes, useable, accurate and timely data through to the trial balance – particularly as it relates to Intercompany Accounting and Inventory

  • As both an individual contributor and team member, assist in the development and delivery of process documentation, training content and support for select accounting processes and as time permits for other assigned general accounting areas of the Shared Services work effort (e.g. General Accounting, Close, Fixed Assets, Inter-Company, Accruals, Allocations, COA, Compliance)

  • Assist the General Accounting teams to perform financial processes, as assigned over the course of the reporting period, such as:

  • Processing of the more complex journal entries (create, validate) and inter-company transactions,

  • Facilitate and perform period close activities

  • Develop and maintain balancing and control standards

  • Perform variance analyses and reconciliations, as required

  • Monitor and correct more complex data and information errors

  • Identify and resolve exceptions

  • Participate in team activities to develop clearly defined, achievable team and individual goals

  • Assist in identifying, implementing and maintaining process controls within the finance function to assure ongoing data integrity for Abbott globally.

  • Participate in training and professional development activities for continuous development of finance capabilities

  • Perform ad hoc and period end assignments and special projects for Record to Report, Management Reporting, and Service Management as required

  • Assist in the delivery of day to day service management activities to meet customer commitments

  • Interface with the Genpact 3rd party outsourcing teams as required to help resolve issues, provide decision working with GA team support Job Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Recently qualified or Part Qualified Accountant Minimum Experience

  • General Accounting experience in a finance function – in particular Intercompany and Inventory

  • Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening)

  • Good knowledge of general accounting & reporting concepts and processes

  • Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Understanding of internal control elements

  • Analytical skills

  • Good Microsoft Excel skills Preferred Experience

  • Graduate in Finance or Business

  • Able to work effectively in a team environment

  • Excellent analytical skills, disciplined initiative & follow-up approach

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Highly organized
