There is a position available for a Lease Accountant 12 month contract

Based on the new FASB publication on the treatment of leases (ASC 842), the HUB has an opening for a Senior Financial Accountant. This individual will help support the implementation of FASB’s new lease accounting standard across EMEA.

First, the role will execute project plans to ensure timely completion of the project. For the project design, build and roll out, this role will serve as the primary link between the Corporate Project Team on Lease Accounting and the various EMEA assigned leads in the HUB, CFS and Division FP&A.

Project Phase – 2018 Major Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Director, Project Manager, team leads, and Abbott corporate, divisional and affiliate subject matter experts, as needed, in execution of the rollout and transition to the new lease standard across the company.

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team (technical accounting, financial reporting, IT, procurement, real estate) to ensure successful implementation of lease standard.

  • Identify accounting changes required resulting from ASC842 changes and support mapping out system and process changes required to prepare for 2019 implementation.

  • Create training materials and data collection templates to be used by all affiliates.

  • Consolidate and review affiliate / divisional data submissions for accuracy and consistency.

  • Partner with IT during installation, configuration and deployment of Abbott Lease Softwaresoftware.

  • Test new processes, data and reporting flows, and system changes

  • Provide ad hoc data analysis to support decision making.

Second, this role will be responsible for the ongoing support of the lease accounting process which will be centrally managed by the HUB in each region.

Ongoing – 2019 and forward Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead for Center Of Excellence (COE) in lease accounting for EMEA region and to ensure accurate and timely posting of lease accounting entries in accordance with the new standard.

  • As part of COE , coordinate technical questions on complex contracts through corporate accounting and share across regional HUBs.

  • Ensure proper implementation of accounting changes and establish required journal entries

  • Drive process standardization initiatives to ensure consistency in data inputs, tracking and reporting.

  • Monitor the newly implemented lease software and serve as primary regional liaison with various divisions / entities.

  • Primarily responsible for the coordination of tax and audit requests related to the lease accounting tool.

  • Provide ad hoc data analysis to support decision making.
