Manager Summary:

This position is a supervisory role for the Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA) department. IQA is responsible for all incoming/receiving inspections. The experienced Inbound Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the inspection department. Responsibilities include staffing, budget, training, safety, scheduling, receiving, processing returns, equipment maintenance and loss prevention. This is a department with direct support of production, so a focus on both quality and operations is needed. Also since this area is fulfilling a direct FDA regulatory requirement, a high level of Quality system knowledge in compliance in a regulated environment is necessary. A bachelor degree in an engineering field is preferred along with 5 plus years in a management/supervisory role.

Summary:

Manages, assigns and evaluates work of subordinates which may include QA individual contributors and/or entry level QA professionals. Administers and executes policies, processes and procedures that affect subordinate employees and the workflow of the work unit. Assignments are task or activity oriented. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment, compliance and overall quality and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Interacts internally primarily with subordinates and other supervisors.

  • External interaction is typically with suppliers, vendors and/or customers.

  • Primary purpose of liasion is information sharing and basic problem resolution.

  • Responsible for supervising day-to-day compliance to the Quality Systems.

  • Coordinates subordinate work to achieve results associated with daily business schedule and goals as assigned.

  • Coaches and develops staff.

  • Responsible for ensuring that subordinates are trained to perform their job safely and within the defined parameters.

  • Support and execute quality goals and initiatives.

Accountability/Budget/Scope:

  • Typically responsible within one discipline.

  • Decisions impact work unit operations.

  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to achieve results might cause delays in schedules and require more people and financial resources.

Qualifications:

4 year degree in a scientific or technical discipline or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in area of discipline). 1 to 3 years of experience in function or related field. 1 year direct supervisor experience. General knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards. General application of quality system application and principles. Strong written and oral communication skills. Developed ability for attention to details, adaptability and organization skills. Skilled supervisor that demonstrates use of Quality principles, theories and concepts. Demonstrates strong leadership competencies. Participates on teams and contributes to the completion of organizationals projects and goals
