An individual serving as Sr. Manager will have a proven track record of leading compliance and/or audit activities in a complex, regulated environment. An individual serving as Director will, in addition, have deeper experience managing people, owning client relationships and leading strategic, innovative initiatives. This individual will report to an Ethics & Compliance Officer.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct oversight for complex elements of Abbott’s compliance program at the business unit and divisional level.

  • Direct the development and administration of compliance policies and procedures; responsible for development and implementation of monitoring plan, including identifying compliance risk areas and communicating such risk areas to division management along with action plans to address risk; provide oversight and assistance with OEC education and training.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to all levels of key divisional business functions on complex ethics and compliance issues, including policy interpretation and requirement, compliance risk assessment, trend analysis and best practice recommendations.

  • Resolve complex ethics and compliance matters that have significant impact to Abbott.

  • Conduct periodic reviews and updates related to complex OEC policy and divisional procedures ensuring clarity, applicability and compliance to OEC global policy and external requirements with minimal supervision.

  • Provide oversight to divisional monitoring process to ensure compliance with OEC/affiliate policies and procedures.

  • Assist in developing, updating, and implementing OEC’s comprehensive training program on complex OEC and divisional/affiliate policies and procedures.

  • Review industry trends and internal results, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Partner with OEC and the business on compliance audits; oversee the fulfillment of auditor requests for information from global databases and, as they relate to the Global Standards, assist local OEC to evaluate and respond to all complex preliminary related findings and recommendations; offer guidance in preparing corrective action.

  • Provide leadership and guidance on proposed commercial programs, identify complex legal and regulatory issues, analyze alternatives and work with legal, as appropriate, to propose solutions to the local OEC and business.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Abbott's businesses supported and knowledge of the broader business impact.

  • Lead cross-functional teams on complex issues or projects.

  • Accountable to OEC and senior divisional management.

  • Operate with autonomy and limited supervision.

  • Provide guidance and direction to Coordinators, Compliance Analysts, Compliance Managers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS required.

  • Experience with or exposure to business functions such as compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, government affairs, and finance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, Masters, JD, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.

  • 8 years of relevant experience, primarily in the regulated healthcare industry.
