Primary Objective of the Position
The Director Commercial Operations Excellence is responsible to drive Commercial Alignment of the Global, Area and Region / Country Marketing Processes with the IBP Product Portfolio Management and IBP Supply Management (Operations and Quality) Processes. The role will effectively fuel Acquisition (including Renewals) and Value Expansion Opportunities by ensuring Global Alignment of the Marketing Planning and Execution activities to Product Portfolio franchise strategic road maps, Customer Loyalty Initiatives (including product improvements) and On-Market / Field Issue Management. Support the Commercial Business Planning activities for New Product Introductions & ensure oversight of the effective execution of the Regional / Areas Commercial Launch activities to deliver Financial / Business Plan & Division Strategy for the respective elements of the Product Portfolio.
Lead and drive the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Global Marketing process through cross team alignment with the DVP of Marketing and Area Marketing Directors. Ensuring alignment to Product Portfolio Activities and the associated Commercial Strategy. Accountable to the Global Marketing DVP to support the approved Marketing Plan.
Accountable for coordinating Commercial Area inputs to the IBP Product Portfolio Management process; to ensure consistency relative to the comprehension of the Commercial and Customer needs relative to all Product Projects (On-Market and New Product) and optimize the annual investment of R&D Budget.
Responsible for New Product / Business Supply Chain Continuity projects and initiatives for Division on an annual basis (10 – 12 key projects supporting $8MM - $12MM annual investment).
Manage the development & coordination of the Business Planning Commercial input assumptions for the future Product Portfolio to support Research & Development investment decision making.
Strengthen and optimize Global tools ( Aforce ) to ensure alignment with the Global and Area Marketing Teams, including data stewardship (relevant to Product Transition (New Product & Retirement) and relevant ticket resolution with Global Team.
Accountable for all Automation Investment globally ensuring EP targets are met and scope assumptions are achievable through ownership of the Pre-Approval and Planning Process across the Division.
Based on defined outputs from R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Operations & Marketing, lead the Commercial Business Planning activities for New Product Introductions. Own the development of the Business Plans and monitor the effective execution of the Regional / Areas Commercial Launch activities to deliver financial and business commitments per approved financial & business plans - $45MM+ Revenue and $18MM Margin.
Lead and coordinate all global commercial supply chain activities for the effective implementation of Customer Field Communications; to ensure Zero Inventory Customer Stock Outs and minimize Net Promoter Score Reductions.
Global Commercial Operations Excellence lead for Commercial Planning activities to support AlinIQ Value Added Service achieving year on year sales growth targets. Accountable for:
New Product Launches – Minimum 1 New Solution Offering per year
Effective transition of Products to New Software Generations – Minimum 1 Upgrade per year
Provision of data to ensure Global Service Organisation can effectively plan resource (40 Headcount) to support installations & support.
Working with Area Commercial Excellence Directors and Area Marketing Directors, ensure month to month changes in business and market dynamics (including Product Offerings) are comprehended as potential business opportunities and vulnerabilities for review and action planning.
Key stakeholder in customer loyalty detractor programs, as measured by Customer Net Promoter Score, so as to ensure Service, Marketing and Commercial needs are included in product development projects scope and customer loyalty risks are mitigated.
Global Value Expansion Business Process Metric responsibility - Accountable for the successful Global Deployment of Value Expansion Programs for (a) “FOCUS-IT – Assays” delivering 0.75% Year over Year Division Revenue Growth and (b) “FOCUS-IT Always-On Service” delivering 3% Year over Year Growth in Service Sales Revenue.
Global ownership for the Monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) comprising on-market and New Product Planning & Forecasting. Ensuring sustainable and predictable delivery on IBP / LBE Commitment at Country, Region, Area and Division Level.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, business management and business administration. MBA preferred.
Requirements / Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years track record in the life science industry with an emphasis on commercial management or supply chain management in diagnostic and/or medical device business.
Extensive experience as program / project manager/portfolio management
Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, with demonstrated performance of influencing change.
Highly organized with strong communication skills.
Strong Leadership Competencies with a desire and ability to manage direct reports as well as lead and influence cross functional teams within the organization to ensure goals achievement.
Deep understanding of the complexities of diagnostics market and customer needs would be advantageous.
Position Accountability / Scope
This position is responsible for leading and influencing global commercial best practices and tools supporting over 500 leaders and 1700 sales representatives in 70+ countries. The position will leverage the knowledge and experience of subject matter experts in a matrix organization. It will collaborate and lead multiple team members across functional, geographical, and divisional boundaries.
