This is an exciting time for Abbott Diagnostics Division (ADD) as we focus on strategies to further accelerate growth across our business. In response to worldwide growth and to deliver upon high impact commercial and operations initiatives we are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to support the development and implementation of the ADD Capital Plan, as well as lead project to develop engineering solutions to significant new products or processes, implement major line improvement or capital building projects.

This position bolsters the established ADD project objectives and criteria for evaluating project results and activities of project team. Focuses on business end and recommends facilities, personnel and funds required to carry out programs to reach overall organizational objectives. Drives enhanced processes for development of Capital LRP and major investments.


Capital Planning:

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting on KPI metrics for ADD Capital Plan including enhancing processes for development of long range plan for capital and investment. Manage the deployment and continual improvement of capital investment / deployment effectiveness metrics

  • Follow core policy and processes to ensure capital authorizations requests (RCEs) have appropriate quality of documentation, structure, risk management, and definition.

  • Work closely with finance organization to track and report current year capital authorizations globally and provide changes/updates to the current year capital plan.

  • Consolidate Capital requests from the organization and recommend priorities based on technical production equipment and facilities, including funding; planning and implementation of facility and equipment projects.

  • Evaluate technical criteria for project requests and results working closely with the Division PMO.

Project Management:

  • Provide Project Management for facility/ equipment/IT projects across ADD acting as primary representative, from collection of user requirements, requesting funds, managing the execution to project closeout. Use principles of PMP process to properly document, control, communicate and report on project progress. Drive stakeholders to alignment and maintain project pace to completion

Facilities Planning and Maintenance:

  • Provides facilities planning for local and global Office; Lab & Manufacturing Space including ADD Headquarters. Consults on facilities planning at other ADD sites worldwide

  • Manage relationships with the Corporate Global Engineering Services Division for quality of maintenance and IFM needs, provide guidance on priorities and needs to engineering/building services for local facilities.

  • Coordinate with key functional executive stakeholders and facilities proper occupancy for office building and departmental adjacencies utilization. Coordinate offices moving assisting on the process of office identification for new hires and relocations. Coordination of facilities occupancy and construction projects.

Business Continuity Plan:

  • Provides oversight and track completion of BCPs for specific manufacturing, offices and TPMs. Act as ADD representative with Corporate Risk Management to facilitate completion of programs and table top exercises at all ADD sites worldwide

  • Coordinate with key functional executive stakeholders for yearly update of information assuring data from HR, Engineering, Process, Supply Chain is accurate.

  • Assist in managing crises to assure safety and security of employees and customers, and continuity of manufacturing in case of emergencies.

Minimum Education:

B.S. Engineering or equivalent plus progressive technical experience and demonstrated competence.

Preferred qualifications:


10 years of Engineering and/or Management experience

Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting FDA.

Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) across a wide range of audiences with ability to simplify complex concepts.

Prior experience working in large corporate environment or a diversified, complex organization is preferred

Strong problem-solving and financial/analytical skills highly desired

PMP Certification – preferable (but not required)
