Abbott Senior Medical Manager / Director in Madrid, Spain


  1. Accountable for strategic planning and tactical implementation as it relates to the medical affairs, research and development areas.

  2. Ensure all promotional materials are approved in line with the Abbott Code of Business Conduct and local polices and procedures.

  3. Develop external relationships, shaping the healthcare environment for nutrition.

  4. Manage liaison with Government authorities and proactively represent Abbott’s interests when important medical issues are under discussion.

  5. Establish professional partnership relationships with KOLs and health experts/ authorities in the medical and infant nutrition fields to support core brands and shape the healthcare / consumer environment for nutrition.

  6. Manage the planning and execution of local clinical studies in accordance with Abbott’s policies and procedures.

  7. Coordinate activities which provide clinical, dietetic and scientific support to assist sales and marketing, product complaints and liabilities, including provision of information to sales force, customers and end users.

  8. Provide a scientific service for marketed nutritional products which is aligned to business needs and priorities. Work in close cooperation with regional and global colleagues to meet the medical needs of the affiliate.

  9. Drive claims development and approval process to align with business needs. 10. Rapid communication and effective resolution of medical issues occurring within the affiliate to minimise reputational damage.

  10. Manage the development of all direct reports. Ensure all team members have personal development plans, impact goals and yearly appraisals. Propose salary increases based on agreed criteria at appropriate times within the year.

  11. Ensure good communication to maximise cross-functional working and synergies across other teams. Collate and share feedback about market conditions / local regulation changes, etc. with higher management regularly. Ensure top to down communication about sales results and any other information direct reports need to fulfill the requirements.

  12. Participate proactively in M&P initiatives and S&OP meetings. Prepare and/or contribute to Medical related policies and procedures, implement them and calculate relevant KPIs on a monthly basis.
