The Director of Global EP Therapies Education has primary education responsibility and ownership to develop the education strategy, educational objectives and key content to build clinical and technical competence among the field force, as well as engagement with key customers to build the Abbott brand, advance market development and establish Abbott therapies as new standards of care. This individual will lead a team responsible for supporting key commercial priorities through both upstream and downstream collaboration with Marketing, Clinical, Program Management and Sales for new product launches, developing important clinical and healthcare economic evidence updates, competitive blunting materials as well as training field personnel (both in depth technical skills training and selling skills). Skill in the development of multi-channel educational strategies leveraging best practices in adult learning including developing curricula and content for new hire training, continuing education modules, LMS module creation and development, and content for local/national/international meetings and customer programs is essential. This role will also be responsible for a growing need in professional education and engagement in the EP business. This senior level role will report to the DVP, Global Marketing EP therapies.
Develops and executes educational and training strategies for employees and customers using best practices across the education organization to enable and drive Abbott EP sales and growth globally.
Aligns cross-functionally within the Global Education organization, as well as with partners in Sales, Product Marketing, Clinical, Program Management and HCE&R to develop, target and measure training-based initiatives such as physician Education programs, peer-to-peer education, Fellows training, and appropriate product use in new standards of care.
Recruits, develops, leads and performance manages a team of trainers to develop tools messages and programs that build the Abbott brand to enable sales globally through education and training.
Retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Sets goals which align to organizational plans and manages the execution of goals through mentoring.
Engages with product marketing to drive product and data development priorities and ensures implementation of educational modules, programs and tools in support of launch preparation, sales execution and market penetration.
Engages strategically with the sales force globally to identify key sales priorities and educational activities to advance market development and enable sales.
Defines, tracks and reports metrics on the value of educational programs developed and uses metrics to drive change in both behavior and performance.
Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; uses best business practices to ensure success in areas of responsibility.
Acts independently within job scope as defined by the Vice President of Global Education to project and meet defined timelines and deadlines, to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to accomplish projects within budgetary guidelines, to alter priorities as necessary, and to work in collaborative relationships.
Accountable for the performance of the work output of matrix-managed peers, direct and indirect employees or sub-contractors, and the conduct of specific educational initiatives within a matrix management setting.
Responsible for long-term hiring, talent development and organizational planning. Anticipates and resolves high level of problems/issues that could impact the operational success of assigned responsibilities. Manages conflicting objectives.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited university.
• Minimum of eight years of progressive industry experience consisting of increasing responsibility in sales, sales leadership, marketing, training, research or engineering.
• Neuromodulation product experience highly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent technical aptitude.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 40%, some internationally
