Abbott Point of Care develops, manufactures and markets critical medical diagnostic and data management products for rapid blood analysis. The i-STAT System is an advanced, portable diagnostic tool that provides real-time, lab-quality results within minutes to accelerate patient-care decision-making. Abbott Point of Care has a new opening for Sr. Systems Engineer located in Princeton, NJ.
Design and develop and maintain software (SW) system applications for complex image processing applications following quality regulations and business objectives.
Design and develop and test SW for image processing, image segmentation, data modeling, pattern recognition, machine learning applications including design specification, algorithm development, testing, documentation, and SW/algorithm verification and validation.
Provide customer support for investigation of special cases and provide mitigations and fixes.
Design reviews for products/projects of direct responsibility.
Provide support to other groups for project development.
Minimum Job Requirements and education
- PhD degree or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or equivalent. A PhD in the above fields is preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in research and product development related to image processing, pattern recognition and machine learning, demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical capabilities
or PhD with dissertation work in above field and demonstrated strong research and development skills (research and implementation)
With hands-on experiences in at least two of the following fields
Image processing including image enhancement, image/object segmentation, feature extraction, feature selection, and object analysis/classification.
Pattern recognition/machine learning including supervised and unsupervised techniques, feature selection, classifier design/training/validation, classification assessment/exception handling.
Data modeling including statistical analysis, model fitting, error analysis, optimization clustering analysis.
Understanding the latest progress and development in deep learning is a plus.
Experience in cell or medical image processing is a plus
Daily work involves using a visual C++ framework to implement advanced algorithms and supporting functions. The candidate should be at advanced level in C++ programming and familiar with SW design and development using OOD methodology.
With knowledge in understanding complex image processing, pattern recognition, and numeric data analysis source codes to re-write or re-implement the algorithms implemented/used in the systems.
Experienced in algorithm development and performance optimization. Hands on experience in algorithm debugging to pinpoint issues and find and validate fixes.
With Working knowledge of software configuration management tools
With advanced skills in SW system design/implementation/test is a plus.
Experiences in tools and open source libraries such as Matlab, Intel IPP library, OpenCV, Python, and machine learning libraries.
