Abbott ADC MARKET ACCESS DIRECTOR ITALY in Rome, Italy

Reporting to Regional Director South East Europe, we are looking for a Market Access Director join our Diabetes Care team in Italy.

1. Primary Objective of Position

  • Secure Market Access Reimbursement and adequate public budget allocation for ADC products

  • The primary goals of this position is to monitor and anticipate relevant reimbursement developments and create action plans to address upcoming market access challenges.

  • This position will have to define ADC Italy market access strategy in agreement with the General Manager developing the proper tool to giving external stakeholder on ADC technology

  • Position will establish and leverage critical relationships to key market access stakeholders, developing customer intimacy and aiming for mutually beneficial partnership opportunities.

  • Position will have a critical responsibility in achieving market access and reimbursement for new ADC products (coding, coverage & payment), position reports to the general manager and will interact with in country senior staff and global market access team.

2. Major Accountabilities

Main tasks include:

  • Understand, describe and prioritize most relevant (influential, accessible) market access stakeholders (payers, governmental bodies, industry associations, professional associations and other stakeholders) for local ADC organization/business.

  • Build trusted and strategic relationships with payers and influencing stakeholders to anticipate payers' agendas, plans and objectives.

  • Understand the specific needs of payers and reimbursement-related stakeholders and identify mutually beneficial partnering opportunities.

  • Analyze market access trends / health policy changes and continuously map reimbursement requirements by payer type for on market products, Anticipate access barriers and cost containment risks. Negotiate funding and price (if applicable) and support our products in reimbursement negotiations and health technology assessments.

  • Differentiate our products adapting and a global value story to local healthcare context in order to avoid price erosion and get preference. Develop appropriate communication platforms to reinforce the value messages for our products (e.g. workshops, payer info material).

  • Partner with global market access to inform product development & pricing based on MA customer needs. Develop launch plans for new products mapping out local coding, coverage and payment requirements.

  • Consolidate planning and actions in local market access strategy & implementation plan taking into account short term and mid-term business goals.

  • Be a subject matter expert in HTA (health technology assessment) and EbM (evidence-based medicine) recommendations on BGM and CGM.

  • Contribute actively to ADC's global market access network by providing relevant local country input and sharing best practices.

3. Education

REQUIRED: B.A. or B.S. Degree. PREFERRED: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Economics or Health Policy.

4. Background

  • At least 5/10 years experience in pharma / medical device industry, health policy or related functions of payers/HMOs/disease management organizations.

  • Background in evidence based medicine and/or public health and/or market access and/or competitive effectiveness research and/or health economics.

  • Strategic understanding of the business and strategic thinking

  • Functional experience in Reimbursement & Market Access

  • Broad knowledge of government and private payer reimbursement

  • Existing network to local market access stakeholders,

  • Track record of peer reviewed publications

  • Strategic understanding of the business and strategic thinking

  • Ability to analyze information and assess risk potential Ability to assess impact of reimbursement policies on ADC

  • Ability to develop impactful strategies & action plans to mitigate reimbursement challenges.

  • Engaging personality able to develop sustainable relationships with ADC relevant decision makers

  • Ability to execute and impact on reimbursement decisions

  • Understanding of evidence based medicine, clinical study design or health economics or biometrics (medical statistics).

5. Impact of position

In the current environment, reimbursement policies have a significant impact on patients, manufacturers, retailers, distributors, physicians and any healthcare provider.

Failure to recognize reimbursement changes and opportunities may result in significant loss of revenue for new and existing products.

Additionally, noncompliance with government reimbursement policies and interpretations within the corporation may lead to lawsuits by individuals and third party payers including Fraud and Abuse violations.

The position owns the market access and reimbursement work stream within the affiliate, which has a critical impact on the revenue base and profitability of ADC within a market.

This position is embedded in a functional expert group of global market access specialists.
