Primary Job Function:

  • Lead and /or assist in the management of technology transfer projects and programs impacting APAC EPD Operations and Supply Chain Organization to assure a cost effective, marketable and robust product is introduced as rapidly as possible and maximizes profitability throughout its life cycle. The focus will also include strategic projects of the Regional Operations and Supply Chain Organization. The main responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Co-ordinate technical and operational activities required for successful implementation of technology transfer plans

  • Lead various multi-disciplinary project teams with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives and maximize assets of the Operational and Supply Chain Network

  • The role is recognized as the primary representative to coordinate all operational activities. Internal Operations and Supply Chain teams are made up of representatives from Managing Science & Technology (MS&T), Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance.

  • The Project Manager is expected to develop, implement and manage the critical aspects of the program or project such as scope, cost, time & resource management, communication and risk management through the initiating, planning and executing phases of the project. The incumbent is expected to:

  • Handle several small to medium size projects

  • Tailor and apply project management related tools to facilitate efficient management of team activities and communication.

  • Develop, track and communicate progress against program milestones, deliverables and resource constraints.

  • Ensure any justified scope, budget or schedule changes are documented, analyzed, appropriately approved and communicated.

  • Drive the coordination between functional teams and external suppliers and vendors.

  • Consistently support collaborative efforts and promote a cooperative team environment at all levels.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets and strategies for the transition of products from Plant/TPM’s, product launches with significant complex manufacturing and technical requirements. Execute them against transition checklists within global pharmaceutical operations to ensure that all manufacturability issues have been examined and corrected prior to commercial start-up.

  • Provide a focal point for implementation and assign responsibilities with the Operations.

  • Develop sourcing strategies per the global capacity initiatives with due regard to the cost, tax impact and centre of excellence analysis.

  • Provide leadership and a common vision to the operational teams to ensure that roles and issues are clearly understood. Motivate these teams to ensure that momentum is maintained to rapidly execute the projects.

  • Have overall responsibility for meeting project milestones and keeping the team on track. Resolve conflict among team members and create alternate strategy and contingency plans to be implemented should the project fall behind schedule. Use foresight to anticipate roadblocks before they occur.

  • Maintain liaison between Commercial and Brand team members and Operations and Supply Chain organization.

Position Accountability/Scope:

  • Proven leadership ability with excellent communication skills including listening, verbal, presentation and written.

  • Strong strategy development and planning skills coupled with necessary knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, manufacturing and supply activities.

  • Can address complex problems: Issue identification and strong problem analysis and solution development skills.

  • Exceptional workload management and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated team player and ability to work in a globally oriented work environment.

  • Proficiency with common program management communication software tools (e.g. MS Project, PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel) and techniques (i.e. plans, schedules, presentations, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of business financial systems and tools.

Minimum Education:

  • BS in a related field; with 5 – 8 years of experience preferred. OR

  • MS in a related field; with 3 – 6 years of experience preferred. OR

  • Ph.D/ Pharm.D in Science or related field; with 1 – 3 years of experience preferred.

Minimum Experience/Training Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of multidisciplinary management and operations, and demonstrated management experience of 3-5 years in pharma or health care industry

  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing

  • Proficient knowledge of project management practices, finance and budgeting

  • PMI certification preferred

  • Advanced cross-functional negotiation skills with multi-faceted, broad-based experience across several functions. In-depth knowledge of business needs, issues, mitigation plans, etc.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with broad business orientation

  • Demonstrated abilities in communicating/presenting key information to executive management
