Abbott is a leader in providing enteral nutrition feeding devices, including enteral feeding pumps and pump sets. Enteral feeding (also known as tube feeding) is a means of providing nutrition to people who cannot obtain nutrition by swallowing. Enteral nutrition contains all the calories and vitamins a person needs.


  • Provides support to Manufacturing Engineering to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimize existing processes, and to ensure that production goals are met.

  • Monitors performance of equipment, machines and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues.

  • Interfaces with all departments in the organizations to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area.


  • Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or process, for current programs, next generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company.

  • Prepares reports and makes presentations to communicate findings.

  • Analyses and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches.

  • Understands engineering principles theories, concepts, practices and techniques.

  • Develops knowledge in a field to become a recognized leader or authority in an area of specialization and applies this knowledge in leadership roles in the company.

  • Foresight of emerging technologies trends.

  • Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks.

  • May lead a project team, determining goals and objectives for the projects.

  • Mentors employees by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance.

  • Interacts cross functionally and with internal and external customers.

  • Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters.

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.

  • Evaluation of production equipment.

  • Troubleshooting and faulting resolution on assembly and packaging equipment.

  • Production support and process validation.

  • Interface with vendors for incoming components.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment.

  • Utilize tools like Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes.

  • Understand manufacturing concepts like Value Stream mapping, 6S and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput.

  • Protocol and report writing.

  • Generate and modify manufacturing process documentation.

  • Project team leadership.

  • Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects.

  • Influences middle management on technical or business solutions.

  • May interact with vendors.

  • Plans and organizes non-routine tasks approval.

  • Initiates or maintains work schedule.

  • Establishes priorities of work assignments.

  • Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.


  • Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, engineering or computer science.

  • Excellent understanding of machine automation logic and automated process debugging.

  • 5-6 years of experience working with automated control systems as part of a machine design team is preferable.

  • Strong PLC background in Siemens S7 specifically but also Elau, Pilz Safety PLCs, Allen Bradley Control Logix 5000 and Guardlogix Safety PLC’s.

  • Competent in working in a validated environment with strong discipline with regard to change control and process validation.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working to tight schedules.

  • Additional knowledge of printer systems, vision systems, Servo Motion Control, robotics, data analytics and RFID systems would be beneficial.

  • Experience with the operation of Robotics and capable of fault finding and fault resolution.

  • Good knowledge of packaging processes, sealing and case packing is an advantage.
