Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Global Compliance and Control, the Senior Accounting and Control Specialist will assist efforts to improve or changes processes to benefit Abbott’s Medical Device division and analyze recommendations based on thorough process and stakeholder analysis.

  • Enhance and maintain SOX documentation by working with various process owners across the Company to update process documentation, flowcharts, and risk assessments.

  • Identify likely sources of potential misstatement for select business processes

  • Support management’s evaluation of internal control over financial reporting via the Archer tool

  • Evaluate deficiencies and discuss management action plans

  • Identify areas where internal controls can be optimized (e.g., shift toward preventive automated controls)

  • Support internal and external control audits

  • Prepare and present status reporting for divisional and executive management groups

  • Manage other ad hoc control projects, including those arising from unique events or transactions

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred

  • Experience: 3-5 years (including 2+ in public accounting auditing ICFR under PCAOB standards)

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail

  • Ability to travel approximately 15%, including internationally

  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
