Primary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:

Manage the operation of the plant Maintenance Department and personnel focusing on meeting plant production goals and financial goals. Complete all responsibilities in a professional manner, ensuring the safety of plant personnel, the quality of the product manufactured and in compliance with all company, state and federal regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of all plant manufacturing equipment and systems

  • Managing the Maintenance Department Budgets

  • Administration of the plant PM program and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

  • Administration and execution of the plant Calibration Program

  • Management of the plant Maintenance personnel

  • Management of the plant Maintenance Engineering personnel, projects and engineering consulting

  • Responsible for the management of the plant stockroom and spare parts stores

  • Responsible for operational performance (uptime) of plant manufacturing systems

  • Responsible for all other jobs and customer requests performed by maintenance personnel

  • Responsible for compliance to all GMP’s housekeeping and sanitation, safety, training and regulatory agency regulations


B.S. in Engineering, Industrial Engineering science, preferred, Food Technology, Business or Materials Resource Planning also meet requirements. M.B.A. or M.S. Business desirable but not required. Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Science disciplines provide enhanced technical skills needed to lead the department. Business, Food Technology or Materials Resource Planning provide administrative requirements needed to manage a manufacturing operation; prepares incumbent for possible succession to Manufacturing Manager or Engineering Manager positions.


  • 4 to 8 years of successful performance as a Maintenance or Manufacturing Supervisor

  • 4 plus years experience as an Engineer a plus

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals


  • Direct accountability to the Engineering Manager. Also accountable to all other Managers and Departments as a service provider, with a strong emphasis on accountability to the Manufacturing Department Managers, PQA Manager and ultimately the Plant Manager

  • This position impacts directly on the end results of Plant, Division and Corporate financial and operational goals which include production to schedule and plant financial goals

  • Budgetary responsibilities include $6MM in payroll and $6M in direct expense, and $7.7MM in spare parts stores

  • The Maintenance Manager has responsibility in meeting the department’s financial and operational goals and commitments. Decisions, which may have a major impact on profitability, are first reviewed with the Engineering Manager or higher authority as deemed necessary.
