Primary Job Function

To assure consistent sales growth and achievement of sales goals and targets on a National scale in order to assist with our accounts across all territories. Develop and manage new business strategies and opportunities to achieve profit targets through the identification and attraction of new markets and customers and/or the expansion of existing major accounts. Strong scientific articulation/communication with customers & key account management skills are required.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Grow the existing Point of Care business base on a National scale

  • Ensure that Company strategies are correctly and uniformly implemented.

  • Carry out sales calls, targeting high sales areas for maximum efficiency.

  • Develop new business opportunities with existing and potential clients

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity in assigned territory.

  • Maintain close relationships with key accounts, and ensure their requirements are being met by the company's products where possible. Appraise current and planned customer needs and advise on the application of company products and services to customer requirements.

  • Represent Abbott in a professional manner that aligns with company image, ensuring activities comply with legal and ethical standards.

  • Liaise with marketing and sales staff, industry associations, government bodies and others, to ensure new business opportunities are identified and followed through; develop strategic plans to achieve new business targets, as directed.

  • Maintain close contact with major accounts, highlighting planned strategies to develop profitable business and gathering information for future business plans and initiatives.

Minimum Education

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification or Medical/Paramedical certification eg. nursing or health care related qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of the reimbursement process for PBS listed compounds, the formulary listing process for hospital products, and a knowledge of the private prescription market is required. An ability to leverage this information to drive sales performance is critical.

Minimum Experience/Training Required

  • More than three (3) years relevant experience in a sales role in the Health Care Industry.

  • Experience within Diagnostics industry extremely advantageous
