Job duties and responsibilities

  • Conceptualize new devices using material knowledge and innovative mechanical design.

  • Run empirical and experimental analysis.

  • Conceive and build prototypes.

  • Work with outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community.

  • Create product drawings and/or models and project planning.

  • Support in-vivo and bench testing, clinical evaluations and physician visits.

  • Support design controls including but not limited to: design reviews, design verification, design input and outputs.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goals.

  • Establish requirements and specifications, including justification and supportive testing.

  • Test method and model development.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks.

  • Maintains knowledge of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.).

  • Ensure compliance with procedural and documentation requirements of FDA and ISO design controls.

  • Support risk management and all Divisional initiatives as identified by divisional management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements

General Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related) with 3+ years experience

  • Experience designing and testing medical devices preferred

  • Exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and designing for manufacturability preferred

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Creo or other CAD experience required

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
