SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Responsible for the design and development of software for medical devices under a disciplined product development process subject to FDA regulated Class III cardiac rhythm management medical devices, including implantable cardioverter defibrillation (ICD) devices, pacemakers, and Implantable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) devices. Ensure compliance of software with FDA regulations (CFR 21) and other regulatory guidelines, such as ISO 9001:2003 and ISO 13485, for Class III cardiac rhythm management medical devices. Develop new features for programmer software applications that communicate with embedded software in implanted devices, including graphical representations of clinical test results, algorithms for programming clinical parameters, and clinical tests. Developer software utilizing Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE), Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Core Java APIs for security, modeling, desktop-based application, Eclipse Modeling Framework, Core Java SWING Framework in a Linux operating system (OS) environment. Create new designs and architect new modules using Java “Gang of Four” (GoF) design patterns and identifying legacy modules that could be enhanced using new Java 8/9 features. Leverage GoF design patterns pertaining to object-oriented design concepts, embedded software, and real-time systems. Work with software systems engineering team to define product requirements and creating software requirements for new features for FDA regulated Class III cardiac rhythm management medical devices in IBM DOORS. Exercise judgement in software designs, coding, and conducting investigation activities following defined methods. Assist the verification and validation team by creating automated scripts and converting existing datasets to next generation clinical data interpretation framework. Write validation libraries in C# and manually convert existing data. Create new hex-formatted data for new platforms supported on next generation devices using tools developed in-house leveraging understanding of clinical data, functionality of external and in-house tools, and use of validation testing methodologies to ensure safety and efficacy of devices. Write new and update existing Junit test cases for functional and integration testing using Junit 4. Ensure product development conforms to design specifications and coding standards for medical devices. Investigate and resolve field issues by performing root cause analysis, implementing best practices to avoid recurrence and performing similar defect-finding activities to mitigate future risks. Participate in agile software development process using SCRUM and assisting in sprint planning, creation of tasks, estimations and execution. Utilize software tools like Jira, ANT, Jenkins, GIT and Accurev for source code management and iterative software development processes.
Post the following in the “Qualifications (Internal)” Field:
Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (with a concentration in Computer Science) or in a highly related field of study with at least 6 years of progressive professional experience in: (i) designing, developing and implementing software for FDA regulated Class III cardiac rhythm management medical devices, including implantable cardioverter defibrillation (ICD) devices and pacemakers; (ii) software tools, technologies and systems, including Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE), Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Core Java SWING Framework, Eclipse Modeling Framework; (iii) SCRUM agile software development methodology; (iv) creating software designs using Java “Gang of Four” (GoF) design patterns, including object-oriented design; and (v) developing Junit test cases using Junit 4. An EOE. 40 Hrs./wk. (8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M.); $131,150 per year. Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
