Job Summary:

Responsibility for developing marketing plans and selling programs that will assist in increasing sales of St. Jude Medical products. Key success factors for the position include launching new products and implementing marketing programs that go beyond promoting individual product features and drive sales of the full portfolio of St. Jude Medical products. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into customer solutions are essential.

Job Duties:

  • Develops, secures approval of, and implements annual business plans which provide an analysis of the competitive environment and clearly define product positioning, key issue strategies and target audiences for assigned product(s)/product lines

  • Manages all activities within the Company related to assigned product(s) including the development of product marketing strategies, advertising, promotion and sales objectives

  • Execute global product launch planning, including business objectives, product positioning and key selling messages

  • Provide support materials required for modification or development for existing product lines

  • Work with communications department to develop launch materials, product literature, advertisements and any other collateral material required to support sales and key marketing messages

  • Develop product marketing bulletins on new and current products. Provide communication to sales team on market released products

  • Conduct product overviews for physicians, sales reps, and nurses in the clinical environment or during plant visits

  • Present product and marketing plans to internal and external customers

  • Continuously improve product marketing effectiveness

  • Recommends, initiates, and participates in actions to achieve optimal brand competitiveness in packaging labeling, pricing, technical development, clinical research, and production

  • Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Sets goals which align to department plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Support all Divisional initiatives as identified by divisional management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.


  • 4 year degree; MBA preferred

  • 3+ years marketing experience

  • Previous medical device industry experience preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, depending upon position

  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
