Technical Innovation Manager, Informatics



The Rapid Diagnostics Division is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.

The position of TechnicalInnovation Manager is within our ARDx Informatics . This role will be responsible for partnering with the commercial teams as the subject matter expert consulting on informatics point of care design that connect today’s users to the possibilities of tomorrow, drive POCT standardization to increase Informatics win rate and foster long-term customer intimacy to drive abundant growth of the ARDx Informatics mission. Performance will be assessed using several factors which may include customer satisfaction, account retention, account growth, successful account and other relevant criteria. Requires at least 50% travel, and may average as much as 80% travel, occasionally with less than a week’s notice.


  • Sells technical products,services, installations, and configurations to assigned customer for specifictechnical product and/or application of product.

  • Provides technical interfacebetween customer and company engineering, manufacturing and program managementrepresentatives.

  • Researches customer technicalspecifications and requirements with current or potential technicalspecifications of company products.

  • Prepares and conductsinnovative technical sales briefings for customer and company representatives.

  • Develops potential technicalspecifications, pricing considerations and contract requirements.

  • Prepares sales forecasts.

  • Investigates new applicationsor improvements to products with customers.


  • BS in Life Sciences,Engineering or 10 years work experience required

  • A minimum of 10 years trackrecord with demonstrated success in informatics, data analytics, lean processimprovement in the Diagnostics industry preferred

  • Proven sales supportexperience in large IDNs

  • Leadership experience,including managing client expectations, multi-disciplinary team, and meetingscope/schedule/budget

  • Fully conversant inconsultative selling techniques and methodologies

  • Collaborative enterprisethinking

  • Excellent interpersonal andinfluencing skills; Willingness to work in cross-functional teams

  • Ability to develop andchampion new ideas and approaches

  • Working knowledge and skillset to guide discussions for laboratory informatics products

  • Maintain a superior level ofknowledge of the applications related to Company products and of the businessneeds of multi-hospital organizations to assure effective representation in themarketplace.

  • Demonstrates commitment to thedevelopment, implementation and effectiveness of ARDx Informatics’ QualityManagement System per ISO, FDA and other regulatory agencies.

  • Obtain certification withinthe Vendor Credentialing requirements by following current immunizations,required training, background checks and competency assessments.
