Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is looking for a Consumer Marketing Manager EMEAP (m/f), based in Wiesbaden. The position holder supports market share growth and expansion of our ADC portfolio, with specific focus around FreeStyle Libre , by driving and aligning Consumer marketing strategy and initiatives according to Regional drivelines.

  • Development of Consumer Marketing activities for ADC in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Pakistan (EMEAP) to include both product/portfolio and service offerings, including deployment with Organizations and Patient Advocacy groups as appropriate.

  • Establish a European pan-Regional approach (with highest integrity, complying with the law and ADC guidelines) towards identifying and delivering against the identified target segments.

  • Development and implementation of overriding communication themes with relevant Consumer and Medical interest, developing networks and campaigns for Local Country utilisation that maximise Share-of-Voice (SoV) within the local Diabetes Community.

  • Emphasis will be on planning and effectively communicating with Local Market Heads of Marketing to deliver on these highlighted activities, over a yearly calendar of key meetings (for example, steering committees, symposia, podiums, to mention a few) fully integrated with the other, more commercial, Marketing activities.

  • Identify best-practice at Local Level, identify key drivers of such activity, and transfer success models across the Region in an effective and rapid form, prioritising “adopt” behavior over “adapt.”


  • Understanding the Customer – be familiar with the key Customer needs in the diabetes management space and “sponsor” these throughout the Commercial organisation.

  • Know the Markets – Research and analyze the market in order to gain critical Customer insights and data used in determining marketing decisions, strategies and opportunities. He/She will work together with the Local Affiliates to identify key targets and access to their extensive network of key influences.

  • Know the Product – Understanding the context in which the product is used, he/she will articulate the product’s strengths and weaknesses with a clear know-how in authority in communicating credibly with local influencers.

  • Strategic Planning/Messaging Development – strategically plans and tactically executes an Integrated Marketing Plan as directed by the Associate Marketing Director EMEAP. He/She will participate in the development of the Area Marketing Strategy; manage the development of appropriate messaging campaigns for use across EMEAP; ensure buy-in from Local Affiliates and on-time delivery of approved materials. To be successful, this role with have to work closely with HCP Marketing, CRM, Customer Service, Medical Affairs, Public Affairs and local Affiliates.

  • Insights, Market Research and Communication – gleaning insights from the Consumers and ensuring these are rapidly disseminated and integrated into the Local Affiliates is deemed critical.

  • He/she be responsible for developing relevant content for Consumer channels and can operate as a consummate communicator, coordinating the traditional communication channels (Publications, PR, and media relationships) at a Regional level, as well as communication on the digital platforms.

  • Metrics – undertake campaign effectiveness monitoring, with market research colleagues where necessary, primarily to understand the Share of Voice being developed and change of script/recommendation/behavior.

  • Budget – have full budgetary responsibility for designated budgets as appropriate, ensuring they are maintained within spending limits.


  • Educated to degree level, with a post-graduate qualification in Marketing preferred or MBA

  • 7 years of overall Marketing experience, with a min. of 3 years Consumer Marketing experience in diabetes, healthcare or FMCG

  • Extensive experience of developing, maintaining and delivering on marketing strategies to meet Company objectives.

  • Proven track record of executing with urgency

  • Experience and proven diabetes-related interest and expertise desirable

  • Professional relations experience preferable

  • Drive, coupled with energetic, entrepreneurial leadership qualities

  • A willingness to travel and work in an international team, up to 20%

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
