Abbott IT Technical Specialist in Witney, United Kingdom

Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. Our product portfolio includes Freestyle Libre, a recently launched system that is revolutionising how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an opportunity for an IT Technical Specialist (Applications Support Specialist / Systems Analyst) to join our UK IT team, based in Witney, Oxfordshire, providing third line IT support and leading projects, particularly those in the local manufacturing area.

In this role, you will play a key part in obtaining business critical requests and translating them into technical requirements through the provision of technical understanding, expertise and direction. Whether you are involved in application system specification, programming, development or testing, you will act as the interface between all involved parties, coordinating activities and reviewing deliverables through to closure.

To be successful, you will be experienced at working within an IT environment and contributing to a Software Development Lifecycle, bringing working knowledge of Oracle & SQL queries and basic database administration (particularly Oracle), as well as Cognos reporting exposure. Due to our regulated systems life cycle environment there is a need to have someone efficient with documentation, comfortable leading projects, translating business requirements into technical requirements and communicating effectively between technical and non-technical groups. We’re looking for someone who is creative, influential, and excited about joining a team at the forefront of Diabetes Care innovation. The ideal candidate will be a versatile individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a small team, but interact on a wider business scale, liaising with stakeholders both in and out of function. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

As you’d expect from an innovative global healthcare company, we offer an excellent starting salary, and a competitive range of benefits including a defined contribution pension scheme, share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme.
